Dr Fathima Ayyalil MBBS FRACP FRCPA
Dr Fathima Ayyalil is a dual trained clinical and laboratory haematologist. She has a wide range of interests in management of both malignant and non-malignant haematological disorders including myeloproliferative neoplasm, myelodysplasia, myeloma, lymphoma, CLL, platelet disorders, anaemia and haemostasis/ thrombosis.
Dr Ayyalil completed her physician training at John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle and haematology specialist training at Calvary Mater Newcastle and Canberra Hospital. She worked as a Haematology fellow at the Canberra Hospital and is a Visiting Fellow at Department of Cancer Biology and Therapeutics, John Curtin School of Medical Research, ANU. Her area of research was on platelet function defects in haematopoietic stem cell disorder.
Dr Ayyalil has a special interest in the area of haemostasis/thrombosis, platelet disorders and transfusion medicine. She has presented her work in national and international conferences and published in leading journal. She is a member of Thrombosis & Haemostasis Society of Australia and New Zealand (THANZ). She is also involved in medical student teaching at ANU.
Dr Ayyalil has a passion for individualised and evidence based patient care and translational research.
