Dr Fathima Ayyalil MBBS FRACP FRCPA
Dr Fathima Ayyalil is a dual trained clinical and laboratory haematologist. She has a wide range of interests within haematology including platelet and bleeding disorders, haemostasis / thrombosis, myeloproliferative neoplasm, and chronic lymphocytic leukaemia.
Dr Ayyalil completed her physician training at John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle, and Haematology specialist training at Calvary Mater Newcastle and Canberra Hospital. Subsequently, she was a Fellow at the Department of Cancer Biology and Therapeutics, John Curtin School of Medical Research, Australian National University, where her research focus was on platelet function defects in Paroxysmal Nocturnal Haemoglobinuria (PNH). As a medical advisor at Technology Assessment and Access Division at the Department of Health and Aged Care, she provided strategic clinical input in to evaluation of medicines for haematological disorders.
Dr Ayyalil is a member of Thrombosis & Haemostasis Society of Australia and New Zealand (THANZ), International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), and involved with medical student and haematology trainee education. She has presented her work in national and international conferences and published in leading journals.
Dr Ayyalil has a passion for individualized and evidence-based patient care and translational research.
