Dr. Thiru Prasanna is a medical oncologist at the Canberra hospital with subspeciality interest in gastrointestinal cancers, breast cancer and malignant melanoma. After completion of medical oncology training in Canberra, he undertook a phase 1 trial fellowship in Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney which is one of the leading trial centres in Australia. Dr. Prasanna has a wide range of clinical and translational research interest. Thiru has completed a PhD in translational medicine, investigating novel biomarkers and novel drugs to improve breast cancer outcomes. He has multiple publications as first author and has authored a book chapter. Dr. Prasanna is involved in teaching medical students and physician trainees. He also serves as an examiner for Australian National University Medical School and Royal Australian College of Physicians.
