Professor Desmond Yip is a graduate of the University of Sydney training in medical oncology at Westmead Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital prior to a three-year Fellowship at the Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospital in London. He is presently the Clinical Director of the Department of Medical Oncology at the Canberra Region Cancer Centre at The Canberra Hospital and also has a position as a Visiting Medical Oncologist at the South East Regional Hospital in Bega. He has expertise in developmental therapeutics and has academic translational collaborations with laboratory scientists. He is an active member of the Australasian Gastrointestinal Trials Group (AGITG) serving on clinical trial management committees as well as leading an international multicentre study. He has academic appointments at the Australian National University, University of Canberra and University of Sydney. He has been involved as working party member of the Cancer Council Australia NHMRC Colorectal Guidelines revised in 2005 and 2017 and in the development of Cochrane Reviews in pancreatic cancer.
